Say hello to ‘House,’ who’s too big for the NFL

According to Pro Football Reference, three men named John Taylor have played in the NFL. There was the great 49ers receiver, a journeyman linebacker in the '60s, and John "Tarzan" Taylor, a 178-pound guard with the Chicago Staleys in 1922.
Today, there's another John Taylor playing football, and he's nearly as big as all three of the other John Taylors combined. In fact, WHP-TV says he's the largest player of all time.
This John Taylor goes by "House" and he's a defensive tackle for the Central Penn Piranha of the Gridiron Developmental Football League.
House stands 6-foot-11, weighs 500 pounds and wears a 6XL jersey. For comparison's sake, William "The Refrigerator" Perry, tipped the scales at 382. The Fridge was smaller than House by a whole cheerleader -- 118 pounds.
Taylor is mostly used in short-yardage situations, where his size makes him a natural at occupying blockers. Ron Kerr, head coach of the Piranhas, explained House's duties to WHP-TV in Harrisburg, PA.
"If they can't see the linebackers, they don't know where they're coming from, the offensive linemen. He has to be double-teamed. He's too big not to be."
How does House explain it?
"Don't run my way. Pretty much, that's what I do."
In three games in 2012, House has three tackles. The Piranha are 8-0.
If you're wondering if you'll ever see House in the NFL, the answer is a disappointing "no." House told WHP-TV that an NFL team did scout him during his college days at Virginia Union, but the scout felt like House was too big and not athletic enough. At the age of 35, it's a very long shot that he'd get another look. House does plan to lose weight when he's done playing football.

Iphone 5 supple shortages could make apples new phone hard to find

Ahead of each new iPhone launch, there always seem to be at least a few reports that claim supply will be squeezed. In keeping with tradition, Digitimes on Wednesday cited multiple unnamed sources in Apple’s (AAPL) Eastern supply chain in stating that the company’s initial supply of iPhones may be more than 25% short of its original order. According to the report, the use of new in-cell touchscreen technology on Apple’s next-generation iPhone has resulted in unforeseen challenges, and third-quarter “iPhone 5” shipments will fall from 20 million units to less that 15 million as a result. Apple’s next iPhone is expected to feature a larger 4-inch display, 4G LTE, NFC and a 7.6-millimeter-thin case when it is unveiled during a press conference on September 12th.

Ten hidden controls of the iPhone headphones

It's never too late to discover that those boring, all-white headphones Apple threw in with your iPhone can do a lot more than adjust the volume.

In fact, any headphones that include a remote (or have a remote adapter attached) can be used to control your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch in up to 10 ways.

Thanks to this post by Business Insider, here are all the ways you can use your headphones as a remote controller, allowing you to perform useful functions without taking your iDevice out of your pocket.

Move over, Jose Canseco.
Make way for Roger Clemens.
Of all the dramatic things we've seen this season, the controversial 50-year-old is leaving the courthouse and golf course to make a play for a few more cheers while pitching in a minor-league baseball game in the Houston area this Saturday night.
The news was first broken by Mark Berman of Houston's Fox 26 and he reports that Clemens will start for the Sugar Land Skeeters of the independent Atlantic League. Berman says that the team put Clemens through a full workout and that his fastball was clocked at 87 mph.
Not bad for someone who spent the last few years dodging perjury charges in federal court. And honestly, he probably can't do any worse than Scott Kazmir, the former major leaguer who has posted an 0-5 record with a 7.89 ERA for the Skeeters this season.
What's really crazy is that SB Nation's Rob Neyer says there's a rumor that the Houston Astros might be staging a bake-off among the four ex-MLBers on the Skeeters' roster — Clemens, Kazmir, Tim Redding and Jason Lane (a former Astros outfielder turned pitcher) — and giving a September start to whichever pitcher performs the best. That seems absolutely ridiculous as new GM Jeff Luhnow is trying to change the franchise's current culture (though with the Astros' current Triple-A roster, perhaps it isn't).
If Clemens were somehow to get the nod from the bigs, his Hall of Fame eligibility clock would be pushed back to at least 2018. That's interesting, because not only would it strip Barry Bonds of a Cooperstown-eligible partner to share the scrutiny with this winter, but it'd also allow Clemens to delay his Hall chances to a time when the voting bloc's attitude toward suspected drug users may have softened or changed.

But that, of course, is getting way ahead of ourselves. Clemens last played professional baseball in 2007, going 6-6 with a 4.18 ERA in 17 starts with the New York Yankees. His last appearance came against the Cleveland Indians in Game 3 of the 2007 ALDS, when a hamstring injury limited him to three runs in 2 1/3 innings of work.
Clemens has stayed in the public eye since then, not only for his legal troubles and Mindy McCready ties, but also for baseball news. He pitched a perfect inning during the University of Texas' annual alumni game last January and took in a Red Sox game from atop the Green Monster seats once his court case concluded.
At the very least, the return of the Rocket is guaranteed to sell a few more tickets for the Skeeters this weekend, not that they needed any help. The Human Fireball — a man who literally sets himself on fire and runs around the field — is also scheduled to appear at the park on Saturday. Talk about poetic coincidence.

Lil Wayne Gives Nicki Minaj Control Of Dedication 4 Freestyle

image?.Caption

"We had this crazy little spat — I actually got on footage and I'll show the fans really soon," she continued. "But he's working on the mixtape and I said, 'Excuse me, I need to be on that mixtape,' and he said, 'Aight, whatever you wanna do.' So I just went into the other room and recorded on this particular beat that I'm sure my fans are gonna be very happy that I touched. I'm really excited for the kids to hear." Nicki was amused just thinking about the track, which she says will be "real funny," but she also admitted that she misses Wayne's hands-on approach a little. "It's like having a strict parent and when you no longer have it [you] kinda want that," she said. "I told him, 'I miss when you would lecture me and tell me to keep on my grind and do this do and do that — where's the love?' " Doing one of her infamous Lil Wayne impressions, Nicki tried to reenact his response to her plea: "[Female Weezy voice] Yeah, you and Drake ya'll made it, ya'll don't f--- with a n---a no more." She was clearly amused by his stance on things, but maintains that "he's always gonna be my mentor." "He's just sitting back watching, and seeing the fruits of his labor, and that's what he said." Minaj released her sophomore album Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded in April, and she plans to drop another project by the end of 2012, although she declined to give any details, simply saying, "I'm releasing something before the year is out."

Michael Phelps could get in trouble for Louis Vuitton photos

Michael Phelps could be in hot water -- not the cold bathtub he appears to be in -- for his recent photo shoot with the French luxury fashion house Louis Vuitton.
Photos of Phelps taken by famed photographer Annie Leibovitz were leaked on the Internet late last week, violating the International Olympic Committee's controversial Rule 40, which states athletes can't promote any non-Olympic sponsors from July 18 to Aug. 15.
Punishments for the rule range from fines to a stripping of medals.
The campaign was set to begin on Aug. 16 in order to comply with the IOC's campaign against ambush marketing. Someone jumped the gun and the photos appeared on a wide variety of websites starting on the second Tuesday of the Olympics.
Louis Vuitton denies releasing the photographs, as does Phelps' camp.
Rule 40 states "a competitor or a team may lose the benefit of any ranking obtained in relation to other events at the Olympic Games at which he or it was disqualified or excluded; in such case the medals and diplomas won by him or it shall be returned to the IOC." In other words, Phelps could theoretically be stripped of his medals from London.
The odds of the that happening are about the same as the swimmer winning six gold medals in women's gymnastics at the Rio 2016 Games. Unless there's a vast conspiracy involving the maker of high-end trunks and the world's greatest swimmer, it seems safe to assume that these photos were leaked by a rogue individual. Pictures that aren't meant for public consumption get leaked all the time. Michael Phelps can attest to that fact.

Then again, one of the leaked ad photos was with former Russian gymnast Larisa Latynina, the woman whose record for most Olympic medals Phelps broke in London. If we were still in Cold War mode, it'd be a legitimate possibility that she leaked them as part of a wide-ranging conspiracy to get back her record.

Belarus shot putter stripped of Olympic gold

LONDON, ENGLAND - AUGUST 06: Nadzeya Ostapchuk of Belarus competes in the Women's Shot Put final on Day 10 of the London 2012 Olympic Games at the Olympic Stadium on August 6, 2012 in London, England. (Photo by Alexander Hassenstein/Getty Images)

LONDON (AP) -- Just hours after the close of the Olympics, a female shot putter from Belarus was stripped of her gold Monday in the first case of an athlete losing a medal for doping at the London Games.
With the disqualification of Nadzeya Ostapchuk, the gold medal was awarded to Valerie Adams of New Zealand - who winds up as Olympic champion for the second time in a row.
The International Olympic Committee said Ostapchuk, a former world champion, tested positive for steroids both before and after winning the shot put last week for her first Olympic gold.
After an IOC hearing, she was formally expelled from the games and had her victory and medal removed from the records. She was the eighth athlete, and first medalist, caught during the IOC's London drug-testing program.
"Catching cheats like this sends a message to all those who dope that we will catch them," IOC spokesman Mark Adams told The Associated Press.
Track and field's governing body, the IAAF, will consider further action against Ostapchuk, who could face a two-year ban from the sport.
Adams was bumped up from Olympic silver to gold, with Evgeniia Kolodko of Russia upgraded to silver and fourth-place finisher Gong Lijiao of China moved up to bronze.
Adams now has a second gold to go with her victory in Beijing four years ago.
"I am speechless with this news," she told New Zealand's national broadcaster TVNZ from her base in Switzerland. "It is taking me some time to take this in. It is huge and I am absolutely thrilled of course. It makes me extraordinarily proud as a New Zealander.
"It is also encouraging for those athletes, like myself who are proud to compete cleanly, that the system works and doping cheats are caught."
Adams' New Zealand teammates were ecstatic when they learned she would get the gold after all.
"Everyone cried - it was pretty emotional," said Annalie Longo, a member of the women's football team, as she left the athletes village Monday. "We're just so happy, she worked so hard and she totally deserved the gold medal."
She expressed regret that Adams had not been able to receive the gold medal at the victory ceremony.
"We feel cheated in a way, not being able to play the anthem and having taken the moment off her," Longo said.
The IOC took more than 5,000 urine and blood samples in London, including no-notice controls conducted outside competition. Until the shot put case, the games were set to end with medal standings in all 302 events unaltered by doping scandals.
The 31-year-old Ostapchuk, world champion in 2005, recorded the biggest shot put mark in a decade in the lead up to the Olympics. She won the gold with a mark of 21.36 meters.
The IOC said she tested positive for the steroid metenolone on Aug. 5, a day before her competition, and immediately after she won the event. The "A'' and the backup "B'' samples from both tests came back positive.
Ostapchuk told media in Belarus that she had done nothing wrong.
"I do not understand where it could come from," she told internet news agency Noviny.by. "I'm looking like an idiot to take this in heading for the games and knowing that it is so easy to be tested. Nonsense. I'm being tested every month, every week.
"I hope for the better. The most important for me is to clear my reputation. I've been in the sports for so many years and have never faced any claims. And now at the major event and after the gold medal ... I do not understand it."
A hearing was held Sunday, a few hours before the closing ceremony, attended by three Belarus team officials. They told the IOC that Ostapchuk had been tested in Belarus on July 25, July 26 and Aug. 1, and the results were negative. The athlete arrived in London on Aug. 4 and went straight to the athletes village.
"They had no explanation as to why such a substance would have been found in the sample of the athlete," the IOC said.
After seeing the test results, the Belarus team did not contest that the steroids were found in her system.
The Belarus Olympic Committee and national anti-doping agency will investigate and "take the appropriate measures," the IOC said.
IAAF scientific expert Jordi Segura said metenolone could be taken either orally or by injection, and the substance can be eliminated from the system within four to five days, the IOC said.
It's the second Olympic doping scandal here for Belarus. The team had earlier sent home hammer thrower Ivan Tsikhan after retests of his samples from the 2004 Athens Olympics, where he won silver, came back positive.
Besides Ostapchuk, only one athlete tested positive for a banned substance after competing in London. U.S. judo fighter Nick Delpopolo was cited for traces of marijuana in his urine sample.
"This is the eighth athlete to have been caught by our extensive in-games testing but many more were kept away from the games by the pre-games program," Adams said. "And keeping samples for eight years means that we can continue to test long after the competition is over."
Three Beijing events were tainted by drug scandals during the 2008 Games, and two more medals were changed months later when a new test for the blood-booster CERA was introduced. The signature men's 1,500-meter gold medal was stripped retroactively from Rashid Ramzi of Bahrain.

Christina Hendricks vs. Khloe Kardashian — Fashion Faceoff

Two beauties known for being curvier than some other women of Hollywood (read: not stick skinny) stepped out in a Rebeeca Taylor dress that flattered their figures in all the right places! The only problem is that both Christina Hendricks and Khloe Kardashian opted for the same silk stunner just one month apart. So what do you say — are you up for another round of our favorite fashion game? It's time for us to decide ... who wore it best?!

Christina Hendricks                                                Khloe Kardashian
Hendricks, 37 donned the dress as she appeared on "Live! with Kelly" on May 17. "Mad Men's" resident sexpot left her flaming red mane flowing. She added black shades, nude ankle-strap sandals, and Mulberry's Bayswater bag in pale pink. The garment itself definitely meets the requirements of the pieces she prefers. "I have to be careful about my proportions and keep it simple," she told Lucky magazine last year. "What works for me is structure and something that shows my waist." And when it works — wow!
[Related: Christina Hendricks talks about Joan and Don's relationship on 'Mad Men']
Kardashian, 28, chose the dress for Life & Style magazine's "A Summer Of Style" event in NYC on June 20. Kourtney and Kim's little sis parted her long, glossy locks down the middle, and rocked the frock with a celebrity essential, the Birkin bag by Hermes in a cheery red, and suede and leather shoes by one of her favorite designers, Christian Louboutin. "Mr. Louboutin just does it right — he knows how to make women's shoes the entire outfit," Kardashian once told Elle magazine. "I literally create most of my outfits around my shoe collection." With prices like those, I would hope so! Her Bye Bye platform sandals alone are listed at $1,195 online at the Bergdorf Goodman website. Good deal, right?
[Related: Is Khloe Kardashian the next 'X Factor' host?]
Compared to that, the dress seems like a steal for its listed sale price of $315! After all, it manages to make both ladies look stylish (the classic cut, the whimsical print) and just sexy enough (the leather belt, the deep neckline). And again, the shape of the dress is perfectly suited for both women. In other words, choosing the one who wore it best is no easy task! I have to look at things like color, a category that — I can't believe I'm saying this — Hendricks clearly loses. Her fair complexion is just a little washed out by the look. So, you read that right, this is one time that no one — especially that frequent Fashion Faceoff competitor Kim Kardashian — is going to swoop in and steal Khloe's spotlight! I say Khloe Kardashian is the winner. Do you agree?

Team USA fights off Spain to win gold medal in Olympic rematch

LONDON – Somewhere in the midst of their relaxing afternoon stroll to the gold medal, Team USA looked up and found themselves in a fight. Spain rained 3-pointers over the Americans' heads. Pau and Marc Gasol bullied the U.S. frontline. And after U.S. center Tyson Chandler became entangled with Sergio Rodriguez in the second quarter, the little Spanish point guard stepped up and jabbed his right index finger into Chandler's face.
Rodriguez's message was clear: For all your NBA talent, for all your American dominance, you will not push us around.
Yes, Team USA's gold-medal rematch with Spain proved nearly as difficult as their battle in Beijing four years ago. Just like in 2008, the Americans finally separated themselves from Spain in the closing minutes of the fourth quarter, holding on for a 107-100 victory that gave them their second straight Olympic gold medal.
The player most responsible for delivering Sunday's victory wasn't on the U.S. roster in 2008. Kevin Durant has since become one of the NBA's biggest stars, and he played like one against Spain, totaling 30 points and nine rebounds. Durant's Oklahoma City Thunder lost the NBA Finals to the Miami Heat, but he leaves the summer with his first Olympic gold medal.
LeBron James hit a late 3-pointer to finish off Spain, and finished with 19 points and seven rebounds. He joined Michael Jordan as the only players to win the NBA regular-season MVP, NBA Finals MVP, NBA title and Olympic title in the same year.
Kobe Bryant scored 17 points in what could have been his final Olympic game. Mike Krzyzewski coached his final game for Team USA, joining Henry Iba as the only coaches to guide the U.S. to consecutive gold medals. He'll stay involved with USA Basketball, but has no plans to continue coaching the national team. Pau Gasol led Spain with 24 points.
From Las Vegas to London, Team USA had rolled through its competition. Only Lithuania gave the U.S. anything close to resembling a scare before the gold-medal game. Spain, though, was different, and the Americans had only to remember back four years to know this. In the gold-medal game at the 2008 Games in Beijing, Spain gave the U.S. a fight until the final minutes.
Team USA coasted past Spain in an exhibition in Barcelona shortly before the start of these Olympics, but neither team considered it to be a true barometer of Spain's competitiveness should the teams meet in London. Even after Spain blew a large fourth-quarter lead against Brazil in pool play, opposing teams suggested the Spainards had pulled back to avoid facing the U.S. before the gold-medal game. Everyone here knew the obvious: The only team that had any chance of beating Team USA was Spain. From the size of the Gasol brothers and Serge Ibaka to its many shooters, Spain had a formidable roster. Celebrities in attendance. (ITSLUDACRIS via Instagram)
And for much of the first half, Spain gave the U.S. a fight. Juan Carlos Navarro scored 19 points in the half while making all three of his 3-pointers. Even after Marc Gasol exited with his fourth foul midway through the second quarter, Spain clung to the U.S. When Pau Gasol threw down a dunk early in the third quarter, the Americans trailed by a point.
From the opening minutes, Spain made clear it wasn't going to just concede the gold to the U.S. Navarro's shooting buoyed Spain. The Spaniards also played the Americans physically. Rudy Fernandez wrestled Chandler to the floor. Durant streaked to the basket for a layup attempt only to be flung to the floor hard by Jose Calderon.
Durant and his U.S teammates took Spains best punch, but picked themselves off the floor. Team USA finished Sunday in the same position they stood in Beijing four years ago. On the podium's top step, gold medal draped around their necks
